Billy Hart
William «Billy Hart» nasceu em Washington, nos Estados Unidos da América, e é um baterista e pedagogo lendário que tocou com alguns dos mais importantes músicos da história. Sendo um dos bateristas de jazz mais solicitados, a sua versatilidade permite-lhe tocar em diversos contextos musicais. Ao longo da sua carreira, gravou 12 álbuns em nome próprio e acompanhou outros músicos em mais de 600 gravações.
No início da sua carreira tocou com artistas soul como Otis Redding e Sam and Dave e, posteriormente, com Buck Hill e Shirley Horn. Integrou ainda as formações dirigidas por Montgomery Brothers (1961), Jimmy Smith (1964-1966) e Wes Montgomery (1966-1968). Em 1968, mudou-se para Nova Iorque onde gravou com McCoy Tyner, Wayne Shorter e Joe Zawinul e tocou com Eddie Harris, Pharaoh Sanders e Marian McPartland.
Entre 1969 e 1973, Hart integrou o sexteto de Herbie Hancock, tendo depois retomado a sua colaboração com McCoy Tyner nos anos de 1973 e 1974. Além de uma intensa atividade como freelancer, da qual se destaca a gravação de «On the Corner», de Miles Davis, em 1972, Billy Hart tocou ainda com Stan Getz (1974-1977) e Quest (década de 1980).
Atualmente lidera o Billy Hart Quartet, formação com a qual já gravou dois álbuns pela ECM Records e da qual fazem parte Mark Turner, Ethan Iverson e Ben Street.
Billy Hart
William «Billy Hart» born in Washington, United States of America, is a legendary jazz drummer and educator who has performed with some of the most important musicians in history. As one of the most sought-after jazz drummers, he is able to perform in diverse contexts. Throughout his career, he has recorded 12 albums in his own name and performed as a sideman on more than 600 recordings.
Early on, Hart performed with soul artists such as Otis Redding and Sam and Dave, and then later with Buck Hill and Shirley Horn, and was a sideman with the Montgomery Brothers (1961), Jimmy Smith (1964–1966), and Wes Montgomery (1966–1968). Hart moved to New York in 1968, where he recorded with McCoy Tyner, Wayne Shorter, and Joe Zawinul, and played with Eddie Harris, Pharaoh Sanders, and Marian McPartland.
Hart was a member of Herbie Hancock’s sextet (1969–1973), and played with McCoy Tyner (1973–1974), Stan Getz (1974–1977), and Quest (1980s), in addition to extensive freelance playing (including recording with Miles Davis on 1972’s On the Corner).
He leads the Billy Hart Quartet with Mark Turner, Ethan Iverson, and Ben Street, which has released two albums on ECM.

Ethan Iverson
O pianista Ethan Iverson, oriundo do Wisconsin, nos Estados Unidos da América, desenvolveu diversos projetos ao longo dos últimos 20 anos. No final da década de 1990, envolveu-se de forma significativa na cena indie jazz juntamente com Bill McHenry, Jeff Williams, Reid Anderson, Kurt Rosenwinkel e Mark Turner.
Em 2001, foi membro fundador da The Bad Plus, uma banda revolucionária da qual fizeram parte Reid Anderson e David King e com a qual realizou inúmeras digressões até 2017, altura em que Ethan saiu do grupo. Entretanto, em 2003, integrou o quarteto de Billy Hart juntamente com Mark Turner no saxofone e Ben Street na bateria.
Ethan Iverson
Ethan Iverson, a native of Wisconsin, United States of America, has done various projects running over the last 20 years. He became actively involved in the late-’90s indie jazz scene along with Bill McHenry, Jeff Williams, Reid Anderson, Kurt Rosenwinkel and Mark Turner.
He was the founding member of The Bad Plus, a game-changing collective with Reid Anderson and David King. The Band formed in 2001 and toured extensively until Ethan’s departure in 2017. In-between, in 2003, The Billy Hart Quartet came together with Ethan, Mark Turner on sax and bassist Ben Street.

Mark Turner
In a career that spans two decades and encompasses a broad array of musical ventures, saxophonist Mark Turner has emerged as a towering presence in the jazz community. With a distinctive, personal tone, singular improvisational skills and an innovative, challenging compositional approach, he has earned a far-reaching reputation as one of jazz’s most original and influential musical forces. Born in Ohio, United States of America, and raised in Southern California, he was influenced by the music he was surrounded with, jazz soul, R&B and gospel.
Turners diverse discography includes collaborations with many of jazz’s leading lights, including Kurt Rosenwinkel, Lee Konitz, James Moody, Dave Holland, Joshua Redman, Delfeayo Marsalis, Brad Mehldau, Reid Anderson, Omer Avital, Diego Barber, Brian Blade, Seamus Blake, Chris Cheek, George Colligan, Gary Foster, Jon Gordon, Aaron Goldberg, Jonny King, Ryan Kisor, Guillermo Klein, Matthias Lupri, OAM Trio, Mikkel Ploug, Enrico Rava, Jochen Rueckert, Jaleel Shaw, Edward Simon and the SF Jazz Collective.

Ben Street estudou no The New England Conservatory of Music, em Boston, nos Estados Unidos da América, com Miroslav Vitous. Em 1991, mudou-se para Nova Iorque. Ben Street studied at The New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, United States of America, with Miroslav Vitous. He moved to New York City in 1991.
